The Eldorado Success is a division of Masked Rider Publishing, Inc. and is published weekly in Eldorado, Texas. The newspaper proudly serves the area in and around Schleicher County, Texas.
The Eldorado Success was one of the first newspapers in Texas to offer an electronic or E-Delivery edition, a tradition that continues to this day.
The Eldorado Success also makes content available on its website at www.myeldorado.net and eldoradosuccess.com. Premium Content is available only to online subscribers.
The Success was founded in 1901 by R.L. Carrothers under the name of The Eldorado Paper. He printed his first edition with a hand-turned Washington press on December 6, 1901. The newspaper's original office was located on the 100 block of SW Main Street, just a few feet from where the newspaper is published today.
Carrothers ran the newspaper for only a few years before selling it to Schleicher County pioneer A.T. "Archie" Wright, who promptly changed the name to The Eldorado Success. Wright's family published The Success well into the 1930s.
Fred Gunstead purchased The Success in 1946 after it had gone through a series of owners. The Gunstead family owned and published The Success until 1976 when he sold it to Ed Meador.
The newspaper again went through a series of owners until it was purchased in 1994 by Randy and Kathy Mankin. They formed Masked Rider Publishing, Inc. that same year, and have published The Eldorado Success under that corporate banner ever since.
In 2005, the Eldorado Success gained a sister publication when The Big Lake Wildcat was added to the Masked Rider Publishing family.
