MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE — Members of the Eldorado Ministerial Alliance gathered at the new Schleicher County Medical Center hospital early Wednesday morning, February 20th, where they participated in  a brief prayer session just prior to the opening of the new facility. Those members present included: (Front L-R) Rev. Jim Sweet, First United Methodist Church; Rev. Henry Flores, Primera Baptist Church; Father Joseph Vathaloor, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church; Rev. Bob Ferguson, Brushy Top Cowboy Church; Rev. Joe McGee, First Presbyterian Church; Pastor Peter Thornton, Templo Getsemani; Rev. Gary Price, First Baptist Church. 4-Hers claim top prize in Wool & Mohair Judging

2013 San Angelo Stock Show Mohair and Wool Show was held Feb 16th with 72 contestants and 23 teams. Plaques awarded for 1st place teams and 1st-5th place individuals and overall.

High winds damaged several homes in and around Eldorado on Monday, causing a series of electrical power outages and leaving a trail of debris scattered across town.

 

Commissioners get to see new truck

Schleicher County Commissioners had a chance to look over the county’s newest truck Monday when Road Superintendent Mark Graves parked the 2013 Freightliner truck in the courthouse parking lot, but high winds delayed their inspection.

 

Shipman is big winner in S.A. Creative Arts contest

Kathryn Shipman, daughter of Gary and Luann Shipman, was the grand prize winner in the Youth Clothing Division at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Creative Arts Contest.
Shipman won two Best of Shows, seven 1st Place, seven 2nd Place, six 3rd Place, and one 4th Place ribbon.  She accumulated enough points to in the Youth Clothing Division earn her a new sewing machine.
Shipman placed Best In Show in the Dresses and Decorative Garments. Her seven first place ribbons  were in the Accessories, Skirts, Dresses, Blouses, Wool/Mohair, Hair Accessories and Decorative Garments divisions.

 

“Splashtactular” water slide

IT’S A WINDING ROAD — Large tubes were erected last week for the county’s new “Splashtactular” water slide as a concrete foundation was poured for the new swimming pool concession stand. The rest of the slide will be completed at a later date. Meanwhile work has begun on the adjacent county park with soil being removed for the playscape foundations and walking paths.
