The new Schleicher County Hospital and Clinic will open for business on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

 

 

Emergency crews kept busy

Local firefighters and EMS volunteers responded this week to a pair of vehicle accidents that sent two women to area hospitals.
The first involved a 2004 Chevrolet pickup that rolled and caught fire early Saturday morning on FM 1828, north and west of Eldorado.

 

School trustees extend contracts of principals, program directors

The Schleicher County ISD board of trustees met Monday evening, Feb. 11, 2013, and voted unanimously to extend the contracts of all three campus principals as well as four program directors.
EHS principal Robert Gibson, Middle School principal Richard Evans and Elementary principal Chad Wright were each offered new contracts.

 

Garcia represents local TAFE chapter in Austin

Eldorado’s Alexis Garcia currently serves as the State Historian for the Texas Association of Future Educators. She traveled to Austin last week where she joined the state officers of the Texas Association of Future Educators as they met with officers of other career and technology student organizations.
While at the State Capitol, the students met with lawmakers and even posed for a photo with Texas Governor Rick Perry.
Garcia was accompanied on the trip by EHS TAFE sponsor Angela Case.

 

Oilfield chemical facility proposed

The amount of fresh water needed for hydraulic fracking of oil and gas wells may decline sharply if an Irving chemical company has its way. XCHEM is proposing a new oilfield chemical facility west of Eldorado to manufacture and distribute treatment chemicals that would allow brackish water to replace much of the fresh water now being used in the fracking process.

 

Rep. Hilderbran chairman of House Ways and Means Committee

AUSTIN – Rep. Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) has once again been named chairman of the influential Ways and Means Committee in the Texas House of Representatives. The committee deals will all legislation relating to the state’s tax code.
