Lady Eagles beat TLCA in last home game

The Eldorado Lady Eagles won their final home game of the season last Friday by a 28-point margin as they flew past the TLCA girls 61-33.

Kelton Bales placed 1st in the 275 lb. Class as the EHS boys powerlifting team placed 8th at the Sonora Powerlifting Invitational Meet held January 31, 2013. In all, 80 boys competed in the meet.

 

EHS Powerlifters medal at RC meet

EHS powerlifters participated Saturday, January 26th in the Reagan County High School Invitational Powerlifting Meet in Big Lake.

103 power lifters competed in the boys division with the team from Fort Stockton placing 1st. Pecos was 2nd, Kermit 3rd, and Reagan County 4th.

 

Lady Eagles whip Ozona

The Eldorado Lady Eagles lost to the Ozona Lady Lions earlier in the season but they were looking for revenge last week as they posted a 23-point win over the Lady Lions Tuesday, January 22nd in Eagle Gym.

 

Lady Eagles are 3-3 in district play

Missed free throws were the downfall of the Eldorado Lady Eagles as they hosted the Christoval Lady Cougars on January 11th. The Eldorado girls led by three points heading into the final quarter of play but missed 10 free throws that would have otherwise clinched the win.

Christoval capitalized on the missed free throws and outscored the Lady Eagles 14-7 in the final period.
The Lady Eagles led after every quarter of play except the last one, and that was the one that mattered as Christoval posted a 47-43 come-from-behind victory.

Miranda Arispe and McKenzie McAngus were top scorers putting up 23 points between them.  Kiarra Trevino, Valeria Ortiz and Payton Lockhart scored 6 points each. Ivie Kate Mynatt scored 2. Three-pointers: (3) Arispe; (2) Lockhart; (1) McAngus.

Three nights earlier, the Lady Eagles notched up a 37-point win over the TLCA Lady Eagles as they played in Wall’s gym on January 8th.

Valeria Ortiz led the Lady Eagles scoring 26 points. Miranda Arispe scored 8  and Kiarra Trevino scored 7. Sutairra Martinez put 9 on the board.  Ivie Kate Mynatt and Payton Lockhart each served up 4 points and Jessica Gandar  scored one and McKenzie McAngus two.

Mitchell, Reyes and O'Harrow earn post-season honors

Three members of the District 6-1A Champion Eldorado Eagles were named this week to the San Angelo Standard-Times All-West Texas 1A Team and as well as the prestigious All-West Texas Super Team.

EHS senior Blaine Mitchell was named to the All-West Texas 1A Football Team as a defensive back. He made the All-West Texas Super Team as a utility player.  The 6-1 170 lb. Mitchell was the MVP of District 61A. He played quarterback on the Eagles offense and was a leader on the defensive side of the ball, as well.

EHS senior Hector Reyes was named to the All-West Texas 1A Team and the All-West Texas Super Team as an offensive lineman. At 6-0 and 200 lbs., Reyes was a dominant force along the line of scrimmage where he opened gaping holes and provided numerous down field blocks for Eagles runners all year.

EHS junior Jackson O’Harrow was named to the All-West Texas 1A Team and the All-West Texas Super Team as a linebacker. O’Harrow played much larger than his 5-10 165 lbs. as he tallied 102 tackles on the season, 13 of them for loss. O’Harrow also caused 14 fumbles, recovered two fumbles, blocked a punt and scored a defensive touchdown.
O’Harrow was also named to the All-State 1A Honorable Mention Team at linebacker.
