Gene Pyron Eubank went to be with the Lord in Heaven at 12:33 pm on Monday, April 15, 2019. He was at his home with family/friends when he crossed over...EXACTLY how he wanted it to happen. Gene is finally at rest in the arms of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a hard and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born May 31, 1938 in Wink, Texas to Vance and Odessa Eubank. He attended Sonora High School, graduating in 1956. He joined the Army in April 1956 and was Honorably Discharged in November 1963. He retired from USAA (United Services Automobile Association) in July 1992 after 16 years of dedicated employment. He was also employed by MIC (Motors Insurance Corporation) for numerous years prior to working at USAA.

Gene was a caring, loving & attentive husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and longtime friend to many. He lived life to its fullest through simple pleasures spent with family and friends. He was an avid golfer, bowler, black-jack player and race horse owner. He loved the game of golf spending time with family and friends in the beauty of God’s outdoor majesty while enjoying the competition and great stories experienced during the game.

Preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Odessa Eubank. Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years Dale West Eubank of Bandera, TX; son-Michael Scott Eubank (Gina) and daughter-Leslie Lynn Eubank Neill (Donnie); brother-John D. Eubank (Judy); beloved grandchildren-Shaylan Denee Eubank, Travis Ray Neill and Garrett Pyron Neill; niece-Katie Sue Eubank and nephew-Bill Eubank.

Gene’s family wishes to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to Kerrville Peterson Health Hospice nurses, doctors and staff who cared for him with much love and honor during his last phase of his life’s physical journey. Sincere thanks to Debbie Foster for her daily hospice nursing and care she provided that helped him through his final health battle.

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work and play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void.
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savoured much;
Good friends, good time, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now,
He set me free
