Earl Eugene Lloyd was born November 15, 1931 at Eden, Texas. The family moved to Schleicher County when he was five years old, he lived in Schleicher County most of his life.

He married Lora Mae Powell in on February 18, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Eldorado. The newlyweds lived in Zavala County for 2 years, where Earl worked on the family farm with his father, Leonard Lloyd. Upon moving back to Eldorado, Earl was employed by Southwest Texas Electric Coop for two years.

Earl and Lora Mae had four boys: Roy Gene, Michael Earl, Leonard Walter and Jimmy Ray. He taught his sons to work hard and do everything the correct way the first time. He worked with Schleicher Co. 4-H for many years. And also served on the SCISD school board.

Earl enjoyed fishing at Rough Canyon on the Devils River whenever it was too wet to work the fields. In his later years Earl and Lora Mae enjoyed RV’ing with friends and family – rarely missing a family reunion.

He went to heaven on Saturday, April 4, 2020 as a result of Congestive Heart Failure.

He was preceded in death by son Roy Gene in November, 2015; his parents Leonard and Alma Lloyd; and sisters Wilma Jean Logan and Retha Nell Hasty.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lora Mae Lloyd; brothers Harold Lloyd and wife Helen of New Braunfels, David Lloyd and wife Pat of Eldorado; a daughter-in-law Melissa Lloyd of Eldorado; sons Michael and wife Leigh, Leonard and wife Maggie of Eldorado, Jimmy and wife Nancy of Allen, TX; grandchildren Catherine Becker, Tabitha Lipham, James Lloyd, Levona Swindle, Travis Lloyd, and Lauren Colyn; great grandchildren Cooper Lloyd, Chloe Becker, Sadie Becker, Preston Lipham, Harrison Lipham, Cameron Lloyd, Jozee Lloyd, Lilija Swindle, Ryelee Swindle, Annabeth Lloyd, Jensen Lloyd, Ethan Colyn and Brianna Colyn. Having lived most of his life in Schleicher County, Earl is survived by numerous friends, who have provided much needed prayer and support.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Kindred Hospice and the Schleicher County Nursing Center.

A private service was held in Eldorado on Saturday April 4, 2020. The memorial service will be held at a later date.
