Estevan Ybanez “EY” Rodriguez, age 75, passed away peacefully Saturday July 14, 2018.

He was born to Santiago and Santos Rodriguez in Leming, Texas on August 2, 1942. He helped with the role of father to his several brothers and sisters after the passing of his own father at a young age.

He was married to his beautiful wife Adella for 53 years. Persevering through a lack of education and a difficult childhood EY always came out victorious due to his tireless will to supply his family with everything they needed.

He had a very diligent work ethic. He took pride in providing for his family. EY is well known for his love of music. His children remember him having music playing at all times or at the very least whistling a tune. He even played accordion, drums, and sang in a group in his younger days. His children will also remember the time spent working on classic cars and the grandchildren will especially remember the ice chest full of goodies and his pocket full of change but nothing compared to his abundance of love he had for them.

EY never met a stranger. He had an uncanny knack for brightening anyone’s spirits with gentle banter and a big hug. He loved teasing everyone but he loved it more when they teased him right back.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Santiago, Eustaquio, and Martin; his sisters Santos and Lydia. He will also be joining his two baby boys in Heaven.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife Adella, son Martin Rodriguez and his wife Norma son Eddie Rodriguez, daughter Sandra Espinosa and husband Juan; daughter Sara Rodriguez Arevalo and husband Mario Arevalo; son Jimmy Joe Rodriguez and wife Danielle; daughter Samantha Rodriguez, and daughter Sabrina Rodriguez, and bonus children Farah Vargas, Paul Vargas, and Jose Osornio. His grandchildren Joseph Rodriguez, Johnathan Espinosa and wife Yadira, Preston Rodriguez and wife Holly, Sasha Ulrich and husband Everett, Bailey Espinosa, Courtney Espinosa, Eddykah Rodriguez, Abi Arevalo, Kayden Rodriguez, Kayty Espinosa, Sebastian Rodriguez, Storey Rodriguez, Sabella Rodriguez, Lindsey Rodriguez, and bonus grandchild Paige Wallace. His great-granchildren Sandra Espinosa, Haylen Caudill, Scarlett Espinosa, Sabrina Espinosa, and Breana Villanueva. He is also survived by his sister Librada and his twin sister Rosa and several nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all that knew him but his family will especially miss him walking them out to their cars and his long goodbyes. What we wouldn’t do for one more goodbye...
