Buren A. (Ike) Whitten, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Ozona with family surrounding him. Ike was born August 1, 1944 in Eldorado, Texas to Buren A. and Zella Whitten.

Ike graduated from Eldorado High School in 1962 and attended Cisco Junior College and entered the medical field where he would become one of 12 people out of 350 applicants to enter the first Physicians Assistant Program in the state of Texas.

He practiced as a P.A. for the remainder of his life, spending the last 17 years in the Ozona clinnic. Everyone whoever knew Ike or was ever treated by him as a patient, felt his kind, caring, funny personality. He was famous for his “joke telling” at family reunions and in his everyday life.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of Ozona, son Austin Whitten and wife Sage and baby Alice of New Braunfels, son Walker Whitten of San Angelo, son Buren A. (Trey) Whitten and wife Melissa of Ingram. Ike had five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Tom Whitten of

Big Lake, Buff Whitten and wife Dawn of Eldorado, Lisa Williams and husband Gary of San Angelo. Ike was also loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

Ike was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tony Whitten; sisters Jonnie Mormon and Hermie Dittman.

There will be a viewing on Friday, September 25, at Kerbow Funeral Home in Ozona. A graveside service will be held in the chapel at the cemetery in Eldorado on Saturday, September 26, at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home.
