James Thomas “Jim” Spurgers, a long-time resident of Eldorado, died on August 1, 2016 at the Schleicher County Medical Center Nursing Home where he lived for the past four years.

He was born in Winters, Texas on January 14, 1934.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo John Spurgers and Nettie Aremntrout Spurgers, a sister Cleo Spurgers Deaton and brother William Spurgers. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Judy Deaton Baldwin of Branson West, Missouri, June Deaton Keever of Eldorado, Jimmy Deaton of Eldorado, Tim Spurgers of Grandbury, Texas and Rhetta Spurgers Wright, also of Grandbury.

A graduate of Eldorado High School, Jim had a career with Magnolia Oil throughout the southwest, owned a farm in Runnels County and most recently had a small but busy time of repairing small engines. He was an Army veteran and proudly served our country.

We are grateful to all the staff and volunteers at the Schleicher County Medical Center Nursing Home and we will have a time of visitation at the chapel in the nursing home building on Friday evening, August 19, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
