Paula Laverne Turnbow Boyer passed into Jesus arms on Feburary 3, 2018. She was born on July 23, 1953 in Big Lake, Texas. She grew up in Barnhart, and attended school there until the 8th grade when Barnhart School closed. She continued her high school education at, and graduated from Reagan County Schools, Big Lake.

Paula excelled in everything academically and sports. Her basketball skills were awesome!! Many summers were spent fishing on the Llano River with her family, visiting her Aunt Kat and Uncle Charlie at Port Lavaca, and staying with her Grandparents, Pauline and Everett Turnbow in Christoval, learning to swim in the South Concho River.

During her teenage years she became the “care taker” for her family while her Dad recovered from a heart attack in Big Spring and her Mom stayed to care for him. She found her life’s calling during those days of running a household, preparing meals, caring for her younger brother, Danny, and going to school. During high school she worked for Bea Lindsey at the Barnhart Café, cooking and serving delicious meals. She loved growing up in Barnhart, and continued all of her adult life to promote and donate to the Barnhart community.

After graduation from Big Lake, she met the love of her life, Danny Ray Boyer. They married November 26, 1971 in Eldorado, Texas. After living in Midland for a short time they moved to Dallas, then Irving and started Central Communications & Electronics, Inc. For 45 years, Paula handled all the business administrative duties while raising two beautiful daughters, Shannon and Sarah.

In 2007, Paula and Danny moved to Danny’s hometown in Eldorado and constructed radio stations KLDE - Oldies 104.9 and KPEP - Classic County 106.5 providing service to Eldorado, Sonora, San Angelo and surrounding communities.

As Dick Siegel stated many times, “Paula was Upper Management.” She handled two businesses simultaneous in Eldorado and Irving until her passing.

Paula loved the people of Eldorado. She enjoyed helping with community activities and needs. Her care for other people really shined. She was able to help care for her younger brother, Danny, during his illness and for her Mother during her battle with cancer. She always was the first one to visit, fix food and provide for any one she knew that needed help.

During her 12 years of cancer treatment Paula was under the care of Dr. Joyce O’Shaughnessy and her staff at the Baylor Cancer Hospital in Dallas. Paula was a miracle to Dr. O., the nurses and all of the other fine folks at Baylor Cancer Hospital in Dallas. Even though, she was in continuous chemo and radiation treatment for those 12 years, Paula made between 100 and 150 trips from Eldorado to Dallas to Baylor Hospital for treatment.

During the months of December and January, Paula was twice hospitalized at Shannon Medical Center. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Edwards and all the other fine doctors, nurses and staff of Shannon Medical Center for the superb care she received.

She was preceded by her parents, Russell and Lois Turnbow and brother, Danny Everett Turnbow. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Danny Ray Boyer, two daughters; Shannon and (Scott) Miles, grandchildren, Max, Emersen, Olivia, and Gwendolyn of McKinney; Sarah and (Nick) Hockman, grandchildren, Bailey, Hadley and Pierson of Irving. Brother, Harvey and (Me’lissa) Turnbow of Christoval; nephew, Bo Turnbow and children, Madelaine and Matt of Helena Montana; nephew, Buzzy and (Stefanie) Turnbow and children Hank, Abby of Christoval and Isabella (Jesse) Jones, Lorelei, Ella, and Jorah of Grape Creek; Sister in law, Sharon Turnbow of Big Lake, and nephew, Walter Turnbow and son, Colby of Mertzon and her Aunt Kathryn Black of Brenham, Texas. She is also survived by numerous other family members and a host of special caring friends.

Paula’s Christian faith sustained her all of her life and during her last difficult days. She was such an amazing woman, full of strength and determination. We will miss her greatly and it is with deep sadness, we say good bye.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Eldorado at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Paula’s honor to the First Baptist Church of Eldorado.
