The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) announced Sunday, June 5, 2022, that it will interpret the prohibition on discrimination based on sex found in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and in the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly the Food Stamp Program, to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

BY DOROTHY DACY MIAS AMIGAS CLUB Our annual class reunion is just around the corner. June 24th and 25th to be exact. This will actually be our 91st meeting because of a three year absence of an in-person reunion due to the Covid pandemic.

A Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service virtual event focusing on the drought facing West Texas producers will be held June 21.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting applications for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) to provide financial assistance to eligible livestock producers for 2022 grazing losses due to a qualifying drought or wildfire. The deadline to apply for 2022 LFP assistance is Jan. 30, 2023.

Forty-two Eldorado High School graduates received their diplomas on Friday evening, May 27th at Larry Mitchel Stadium. They also collected a total $223,325 in scholarships.

The Eldorado High School Mighty Eagle Band flute quartet and brass quintet performed at the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) on Monday, May 30 at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville ISD.

The 2022 Eldorado Middle School academic awards presentation was divided into two programs featuring 5th and 6th grades together then the 7th and 8th grade classes. Both programs where held in the Eldorado High School Auditorium Thursday, May 26, 2022.

A total of 568 Schleicher County voters cast ballots in the May 24th primary runoff election with the vast majority of the votes being cast on the Republican ticket. Rahegyn Franke defeated T.J. Rodriguez 326-213 to be the Republican nominee for Justice of the Peace.

The Eldorado High School 2022 Spring Band Concert was held Thursday, May 19th, in the EHS auditorium. During the concert, Band Director Michael Bell and Assistant Director Justina Saunders presented retiring Elementary Music Teacher Joella Parker with a bouquet of flowers and praised her 44 years of support for the band program at all grade levels.
