Donald Trump won a decisive victory in the presidential race Tuesday night with a landslide win in the popular vote and the Electoral College totals. The victory makes him only the second U.S. President to be elected to non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland’s (D) wins in 1885 and again in 1893.

Despite being born into slavery in Louisiana in 1844, Emanuel Stance made the most of his newly won freedom when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1866. In more than 20 years of service, he saw action in several battles during the Indian Wars fought in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska, including one that earned him the Medal of Honor.

The Eldorado Game Association held its annual Game Dinner on Saturday, November 7th, at the Schleicher County Civic Center. An estimated 1,200 people turned out for the dinner, catered by Pit Bar B Que of San Angelo, as well as the raffle that followed.

Robert Allan Corbell, 73, of Brady and formerly of Eldorado was arrested in Brady on Monday, October 28th, and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Schleicher County officials are warning residents of individuals in Eldorado who are representing themselves as Census workers

Schleicher County Commissioners met Tuesday, October 15th, and heard from County Treasurer Jennifer Henderson that the conversion to the new bookkeeping system is underway. She explained that there are problems linking the new system to the county’s payroll system and said she hopes the conversion is complete before having to write paper payroll checks.

The Schleicher County ISD board of trustees heard Monday night from Ashley Broughton, a payroll consultant with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). Broughton joined the board meeting by video conference as she reported the results of a “pay study” TASB had conducted for the school district.

Schleicher Medical Center will host its annual Health Fair on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Schleicher County Civic Center. Everything is slated to get underway at 10 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m.
