It’s been an exciting year for Eldorado High School cross country program and, in particular, the EHS varsity boys team. Coach Kelsey Fillmon’s boys won the championship in all but one of the meets in which they competed this year. And in that one, the Sundown Cross Country Meet, the boys places second.

The sound war drums reverberated throughout the game along the incessant drone of Iraan’s tomahawk chop as the Iraan Braves defeated the Eldorado Eagles 70-30 in Braves Stadium on Friday, October 11, 2024. The game was the district opener for the two teams.

The Eldorado Middle School Eagles lost to the Iraan Junior High Braves 30-16 on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

The Eldorado Eagles junior varsity squad lost 16-0 to the Junction Eagles junior varsity unit on Thursday, October 10th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

Eldorado Middle School competed in the Sonora Middle School District Cross Country Meet on October 2, 2024. The seventh grade girls finished in first place with a score of 20 points.

The Eldorado Eagles junior varsity squad defeated the Harper Longhorns JV team 34-6 on Thursday, September 26th in Harper.

Jasi Galindo had a big night on Friday, September 26th. Not only did the EHS senior account for 202 of the Eldorado Eagles’ 379 yards of offense, he scored three touchdowns along the way and accounted for a defensive interception as he paced the Eagles to a 30-13 win over the Harper Longhorns.

The Eldorado Middle School Eagles defeated the Harper Junior High Longhorns 18-6 on Thursday, September 26th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

Eldorado’s varsity and JV cross country teams traveled to the Oil Patch Invitational Cross Country Meet in Sundown on Saturday, September 28th.

Eldorado High School cross country runners competed Friday, September 20th at the McNeil Invitational Cross Country Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. That’s the course where the UIL State Cross Country Meet is held each year.

The Eldorado Eagles will close out their pre-district schedule on Friday, September 27th, by hosting the Harper Longhorns at Larry Mitchel Stadium in the Eagles annual Homecoming game.

The Eldorado Eagles lost a hard fought game to the Miles Bulldogs by a score of 21-14 on Friday, September 20th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

The Eldorado Eagles junior varsity football team defeated the Miles Bulldogs JV squad 36-0 on Thursday, September 19th at Gary Krejci Memorial Stadium in Miles. The win came on the strength of a solid offensive effort coupled with a ball-hawking defense that forced two fumbles and intercepted the Miles quarterback three times.

The EHS varsity boys cross country team, currently ranked #8 in the state, claimed yet another first place trophy on Saturday, September 14th at the Running with the Lions Cross Country Meet

It was Friday the 13th in Sonora last week and the Eldorado Eagles were the ones most affected by the mythical bad luck normally associated with the day.

The Eldorado Eagles junior varsity team defeated the Sonora Broncos JV squad 14-8 on Thursday, September 12th at Larry Mitchel Stadium in Eldorado.

The Ozona Lions blanked the McCamey Badgers 60-0 in their season opener on August 30th, and a number of football prognosticators predicted much the same when the Ozona boys faced the Eldorado Eagles. But, the Warbirds, fresh off a 20-13 road win over the Christoval Cougars, would be a tougher nut to crack. And, although the Lions eventually claimed the 28-19 win, Eldorado’s defensive squad made Ozona battle for every yard.

The Eldorado boys varsity cross country team won the Lubbock I.S.D. Invitational Cross Country Meet championship on Saturday, September 7th, at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The boys ran a 5K-long and very hilly course.

The Eldorado junior varsity Eagles traveled to Ozona on Thursday, September 5th and, despite leading in after three quarters of play, came out on the losing end of the 22-14 final score.

Garrett Walling crossed the goal line and into the north end zone at Jack Pardee Memorial Stadium in Christoval, then turned to look back for the football that was already spiraling toward him.
