Kaye Louise Pfluger was born in San Angelo, Texas, October 13, 1941 to Charlotte Louise Rau Pfluger and Vernon Leo Pfluger. She attended Santa Rita Elementary, Robert E. Lee Junior High and graduated as part of the first class at the then new Central High School. She attended San Angelo College and North Texas University. She was an elementary teacher and loved her students dearly.
Kaye had a plethora of interests. She loved to travel and took many trips in the United States and Europe. Cooking was a passion, and she didn’t always follow the recipe. She enjoyed experimenting with flavors and perfecting her recipes. She enjoyed reading and belonged to several book clubs through the years. Kaye loved art and watercolor was her medium of choice.
Kaye’s first and dearest interest was Jesus. She loved him completely and spent time memorizing God’s word. She loved to share her faith with others. Kaye was a servant caring for her friends according to their needs. Kaye delivered Meals for the Elderly, served at the Wesley Soup kitchen for years, and then at Neighbors Café. She was a mentor with the House of Faith, Eucharist lay minister to the home bound, faithfully answered the phone at First Methodist Church every Wednesday, and was a member of the Cokesbury Singers. Kaye was an active member of numerous Bible Studies, including Precepts & CBS. Her love of animals knew no bounds – she fed the birds and loved and cared for numerous cats and dogs. Kaye was dearly loved and is deeply missed.
Kaye was preceded in death by: her parents Charlotte and Vernon Pfluger, brother Joseph Veron Pfluger, and nephew Raymond Howard Pfluger. She is survived by her brother Charles Lee Pfluger, sister-in-law Helen Parker Pfluger, and nephew Daniel Glen Pfluger and his wife Stacy Murphree Pfluger.
A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church Friday August 25th at 2:00 pm.
