Mr. Ollie Neille Sudduth passed beyond the sunset at his home in San Angelo, Texas on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. He was the son of William W “Smiley” Sudduth and Jewell Blanche (Taylor) Sudduth. He was 83 years old and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Ann Sudduth and his only son Todd Lee Sudduth and wife Chelsea who gave him three grandchildren: Clayton, Weston, and Novalee. Ollie was the oldest of four children: Rozanna and her husband Ronnie Sauer, William “Bill” Sudduth and his wife Toni, and Michael “Mike” Sudduth and his wife Kathy.
Ollie was a proud veteran of the US Army where he served as a Medical Specialist during the Vietnam War era. He graduated from Angelo State University in 1971 earning a BBA in Business Administration. He was a west Texas rancher for many years before running his own business as a contract welder for several oil and gas companies around the Permian Basin and Big Country areas and eventually settled on creating metal and horseshoe nail art pieces until his retirement.
Ollie took pride in his ability to break and train horses that were particularly difficult. He was a true “horse whisperer.” He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Louis Lamour reader. His favorite books were westerns and Native American culture. Ollie loved to tell stories of his childhood and the years he spent on the ranch. He loved being a cowboy with his favorite horse, Snooper. He will be missed by all as he has saddled up Snooper once more and ridden beyond the sunset.
The family will be scheduling a memorial service to be held at a later date.
