Sarah Alice Hill McCravey enjoyed every bit of 91 years here on Earth. On August 4, 2016, Sarah took her seat in Heaven with our Lord and Savior. Born October 20, 1924 to J.E. (Gang) and Josephine (Gam) Hill, Sarah lived all of her life as a faithful resident of Eldorado, Texas.

Sarah is survived by four loving and loyal children: Mike and Wife Glenda McCravey, W. Chris McCravey, Maureen and husband Bill Hodges and Jeanne and husband Steve Snelson. She answered to many names, but her favorites were her “grandmother” names of which she had three! “Grandmother” was given by Michele Jones and Sarah Martin, “Bummer” was given by Cody McCravey, Makenzie Fryar and Kayla Hubble and “Bubba” was given by Casey Snelson, Hillary Bueker, Ross Hodges and Blake Hamm. With 19 great grandchildren running around, Sarah was always entertained!

In 91 plus years, Sarah left a lasting impression on many people in her community. After graduating from Eldorado High School, Sarah attended San Angelo Business College and at the conclusion of WWII she married Billy McCravey on December 25, 1946. They established their roots in Eldorado and raised each of their children with pride.

Soon after moving back to Eldorado, Sarah started her long time career in banking at the First National Bank of Eldorado where she dedicated over 30 years. Her customers at the bank were guaranteed a smile and a warm conversation while doing business. When she was not working or taking care of her home, Sarah absolutely loved the time she spent with her girlfriends. Many of these friends ended up being as close as family and countless memories were made during traveling adventures and weekly bridge club.

Sarah considered family her biggest blessing. Not only did she remember every birthday of all 45 family members, each person received a special birthday card in the mail letting he/she know that they were loved. She traveled thousands of miles following her beloved Eldorado Eagles and cheered on her grandkids in all of their competitions. Family frequently gathered around her dinner table for great conversation and even better advice served with a side of Cheetos and Dr. Pepper. It was also no mystery to her family that she could have been general manager for the Texas Rangers. Sarah’s favorite memories came around each of the holidays where she opened her home to any and all that could make it. The noise of happiness and excitement filled her home and warmed her heart. She poured a life long legacy into her kids, grandkids and great grandkids that will live on.

The McCravey family sends a special thank you to Dr. Kristy Edwards, Dr. Mark Edwards, Misty, Toni, Roy, Noemi, Veronica and the employees of Lillian Hudspeth Hospital for their constant care and friendship.

Memorial services will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Eldorado, Texas. Memorials may be sent to the West Texas Boys Ranch or the charity of your choice.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
