Victor Gutierrez Jr. was born on March 13, 1945 to Victor and Ventura (Reyes) Gutierrez in Natalia, TX. He went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2023 with his loving wife Margaret by his side. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 6th at 7pm at Love Funeral Home in Eldorado, TX, and the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Parish in Eldorado, TX.
Raised as a migrant farm worker, he was taught to be a hard worker from a young age – a trait that he possessed for the rest of his life. He went on to work in the oil field for over 40 years. Before retiring, his most recent position was Construction Superintendent with Discovery. His work ethic and strength allowed him to battle cancer and spend more time with his family and loved ones.
Victor married Margaret Perez on July 31, 1965. They ultimately settled in Eldorado, TX where they raised their four sons. Throughout his life, Victor enjoyed baseball and other sports. He played for the Seagraves Red Sox and the Eldorado A’s for several years and then later enjoyed supporting his sons and grandsons at their own sporting events. He also loved watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys on TV when he was not watching his favorite westerns.
Victor spent many hours working in his workshop and was known for “tweaking” things. He loved family cookouts and tailgates and appreciated the stories his sons told after rounds of golf and other adventures. Victor was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Victor is survived by his wife Margaret (Perez) Gutierrez; his sons: Victor Gutierrez III (D’Lyn Culp) of San Angelo, TX, Kenny Gutierrez (Josie Gutierrez) of Arlington, TX, Craig Gutierrez (Dana Gutierrez) of San Angelo, TX, and Ricky Gutierrez of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Byron Gutierrez and Ryan Gutierrez (Jenna Barnes Gutierrez) and Lauren Felix (AJ Felix), and great grandchildren: Gia and Luke Gutierrez and Nolan Felix. He is also survived by sisters Dolores Mancilla (Joe Mancilla) and Mary Sue Ramon, sister-in-law Mary Alice Peralda, brothers-in-law Ramon Gonzalez, Robert Perez, David Perez, and “Sappy” Peralda along with several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents, brothers “Wolfman” Gutierrez, “Blondie” Gutierrez and sister “Nana” Gonzalez, and sisters- and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cheruku, Dr. Hitchcock, Kristina Prater, the staff of Hospice of San Angelo, and the nursing staffs at Schleicher County Medical Center and Shannon Medical Center for the loving care that they provided. The family also thanks the many friends that reached out to support them during this difficult time.
